Deuteronomy forbids adopting the nations’ burning of children, including as a way of serving Yahweh. Jeremiah calls child offerings to Baal the shedding of innocent blood, says God did not command them, and announces judgment. These commands and accusations distinguish such offerings from worship God approves.
