Jesus distinguishes his saving mission from the last-day judgment of those who reject him and do not receive his sayings. He says his spoken word will judge them and that the Father commanded what he should say. The passage itself joins saving purpose, a revealed standard and future judgment without giving an exhaustive verdict for every individual.
